Gerontology or
Geriatrics is the branch of medical science that deals with
diseases and problems specific to mid-senior and senior citizens.
More particularly, geriatrics is the study of health, wellness, and
disease later in life including the health care of older persons and
well being of their caregivers. Geriatrics is the biology of
aging.
On the other hand,
Gerontology examines the aging process in individuals from mid-life through
old age. Gerontologists investigate the impact of the aging population on
society, and are able to create and develop policies and programs as a result.
Gerontology is the sociology of aging.
